Skype
I created a free Skype account. It was simple, easy to navigate, and free to use. I can use it to talk with my family, peers, other teachers, and children in other classrooms. I would recommend trying it for anyone who may be interested.

Reading 10-10/10-14
We have been working on clapping out syllables in words. For example children will say the word watermelon. Next they will clap for each syllable and say the correct number 4. You can practice this at home with small words and large words using household objects.
We also practiced letter recognition, sound, and correct letter formation for Rr and Gg. Children may enjoy showing you that they can write the letters correctly. Ask them to find objects that begin with the /R/ and /G/ sound. This should be fun for them.

Math 10-10/10-14
This week, we have worked very hard on graphs. We made graphs of our favorite colors, our feelings about coming to school, a vote on what flavor milk we want, and an age graph. We even added tally marks! We used words such as the most, least, and equal to describe our results.
You can quiz them at home, for example try using the kitchen table and make a graph from the silverware drawer. Make sure to help them with understanding the tallies, most, least, and equal.
